Pet of the Week

Meet Blinky! She's working undercover to keep an eye on you and your household. You may not even know you're under surveillance. She can vanish into thin air if anyone or anything interferes with her investigation. If you need a cat who knows how to stay out of trouble and will always keep your secrets, Blinky just might take your case.

Adoption Success Story

Lilly (aka) Freckles came home the day before Thanksgiving 2013. The timing was perfect. We had another blessing to thank God for: a new addition to our family! Beautiful sweet Lilly!
I had lost my 2oldest 4legged children within a year and a half. My Freddy basset had passed away just in September and my heart was broken. Sandy, who is 12 and was also adopted from HSNMB, was lost and depressed. I had seen Freckles on the web site even before Freddy h...ad passed and thought she was so beautiful and had such soulful eyes. I was very close to going to see her but decided not to.
One Saturday in October I rode by Petco and my heart skipped a beat! There she was! I had to stop and see her. She was very quiet and calm. I was in love! I talked to the employees and volunteers. And learned that her owner had turned her in and she had been there a year that month. I went home and got Sandy and we visited for a while and walked together. A perfect day!
I couldn't make a quick decision so with a sad heart I went home to think about adding Lilly to our family.
In the meantime, I went to other rescues and spent time with some other dogs that I thought might be a good companion for Sandy but Freckles never left my mind or heart. I took Sandy to see her again and his tail was wagging when he saw her and that was my sign. I knew we were meant to be a family! Lilly (Freckles) has come a long way since coming home and still has some issues that we are working on. Sandy and Lilly act like brother and sister! I am so thankful for the volunteers and employees at HSNMB. They were so supportive during the whole process of adopting Lilly and they truly cared and loved Lilly during her stay there. Lilly is a wonderful companion and loving friend. She has a very special place in my heart and I look forward to making sure she has many loving years ahead and the best life she can possibly have with Sandy and I!!

Adoption Success Story

The Life and Times of Sandy Paws!
In the beginning...

Sandy's name at the shelter was "Tom".  I met him when Rosemary, a volunteer at the shelter, brought him to a dog show at the pool several summers ago. I thought he was beautiful, but already had a dog and did not think I wanted another.

We did end up adopting Him, but we changed his name to "Sandy" because he came from the beach complete with sandy spots. Everyone fell in love with him here!

Sandy Paws now has his ‘Throne’ (the recliner) upstairs next to the window and downstairs he has his King Size ‘Day Bed’ which is also known as ‘The Bone Yard’ because it rattles like a skeleton  from all the T-Bone steaks he has been treated to.

Sandy Paws loves to sit on his hindquarters and offer people his paws with the expectation of a belly rub and/or his favorite...The Chesty!  Sandy Paws is very popular around our condo area with many people and other dogs.  He is like the mayor.

When I go to sleep at night, do my homework, go for walks on the mountain or ride in the car, Sandy Paws is always by my side giving me sugar with his big sloppy kisses!

He is the most loveable turbo-ball of fur so I wrote him his own jingle:

Soft Sandy,

Warm Sandy,

Turbo Ball of Fur;

Happy Sandy Sleepy Sandy;

Woof, Woof, Woof

Thank you to The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach for the great turbo-ball of fur, gift of love, SANDY PAWS!

Pet of the Week

Change his future! When he's not playing with other cats, Checkers is keeping a close eye on the birds outside through the window. Ahh, the elaborate plans that must be running round his head! This handsome cat is shy around people, but will sometimes let you pet and comb his soft hair. So, if he could find a home with a kind, patient person, he may warm up. In the meantime, he adores other cats and would be a great companion to your cats. If you'd like to change a deserving cat's life, Checkers is ready to capture your heart!

Adoption Success Story

On Friday, March 21st, we adopted Angel. She was home only for one hour when we took these photos. Do you think she’s settled in? We absolutely love her!

Thanks to everyone who matched us up with her.
