Gas Chambers - House Bill H.3343
Sponsors: Reps: Huggins, Toole, Long, McCoy, Knight, R.L. Brown, Pope, Collins, Bingham, Stavrinakis, Yow and Ericson
Status: Passed House 103-3; waiting for a hearing in the Senate
About the bill: If passed, this bill would end the permissible use of gas chambers in South Carolina animal shelters. While we aren't aware of any gas chambers currently being used, we want to ensure that no shelters do so in the future by passing legislation now.
Because this bill has already passed the House, it has a strong possibility of passing the legislature this year IF we can secure a hearing for it in the Senate. We have been unable to do so thus far, and are hopeful that you might be willing to assist.
Would you consider emailing the Senate Agriculture Committee chairman, Danny Verdin, and asking him to schedule a hearing for the gas chamber bill?
The email could be very simple - just a line or two - asking him to schedule a hearing for H.3343, to ban the use of gas chambers in South Carolina animal shelters.
Senator Verdin can be reached at SAgriComm@scsenate.gov.
