In 2012, I lost my 15 year old maine coon Sunni to lung cancer. One year later, I lost my 14 year old Ragdoll Goofey to diabetes. I was heartbroken but knew one day, I would adopt again. I had my heart set on a Russian Blue or another Ragdoll and went in search of one. I found one that I liked but sadly, had already been adopted. One day I stopped at Petsmart to look at the kitties. There was this little orange and white kitty named Kasey that immediately started meowing at me. I thought cute, but not what I was looking for. As I looked at all of the other kitties but something kept drawing me back to Kasey. I went in the back to interact with the kitties. After holding some of them, I realized Kasey was the perfect one for me. After I got her home, she explored a little but then hid under the bed. She did this for about 3 days before she would come out and see me. At first she was shy, but after a month, she is a sassy little kitty that loves to cuddle. Her favorite games are “what’s this wiggling under the covers”, peek-a-boo, and of course, chasing a laser pointer. Sometimes I get hit with a random toy she felt the need to throw at me. She spends most of her time perched on the back of the sofa or looking out the window at the big ole world. Sometimes the neighborhood ducks will visit her. Believe it or not, she likes the ducks. When I come home from work, she sits next to me and chats with me. Almost as if she is telling me about her day. Then there are times she gives me the “Hey mommy, my belly isn’t going to rub itself” meow. Its only been a month but she is a happy, well adjusted, well behaved little kitty that I am so glad I adopted. She is my little princess. And yes, she knows it.
