Adoption Success Story

Hi everyone,
It's been a little less than a year since we adopted Loki, formerly Cosmo, and I have to say he's been quite the addition to the family. When he came home, he was skittish at first and seemed more interested in hiding in the corner than learning to walk on a leash. Luckily, his big brother, Tony (the Chihuahua mix) helped him to break out of his shell.
I came to find out that Loki is a boneless dog, during cuddling sessions his body flops as much as his ears do. It would also appear that you guys inserted springs into his legs, because I have never seen a dog jump so high or run so quickly. Thanks to Loki, I've dropped 15 pounds. We bike ride almost every day.
Some days we opt to go to the beach. Tony isn't too big on swimming, but Loki does enough for the both of them. He was a late bloomer, but he's absolutely the light of our lives. He's my workout companion and my foot warmer at night. As I write this, Loki and Tony are taking an afternoon nap (real time photo to the right!)
I just thought I should take some time out of my day to thank you guys for everything you do and for uniting Tony and I with his little brother Loki. Keep up the great work!

Adoption Success Story

Dear North Myrtle Beach Humane Society,

My mother and I adopted Annie -- renamed Meera, after the character from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin -- in February of 2013. When we originally encountered her at the shelter, she was very timid, but only days after bringing her home to Maryland, she really began to settle in and has proven to be quite the ball of energy. She loves nothing more than walks and has decided that every couch and bed in the house is hers. After nearly a year of living with her in MD, we have decided to come back down and make Myrtle Beach our permanent home. Meera seems to actually miss the cold weather, but otherwise has adjusted perfectly to life in South Carolina again. She's been a great addition, and we're so grateful to everyone at HSNMB for bringing us together with this adorable new member of our family.

Adoption Success Story

Nellie (left) was adopted from HSNMB
Nellie was about two years old when we brought her home from The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. She has lived almost her whole life at the shelter. She didn't want to be handled too much at first, so we let her explore the house at her own pace. It didn't take too long before we started finding dresser drawers, cabinet doors, and bi-fold doors open all around the house. She had quite a talent. To this day, it's part of her daily ritual. Soon after we adopted Nelly, we found another cat which was abandoned in Little River. The two of  them make our house a home.
